The Beauty of Fall Preparation
As the vibrant hues of leaves begin to transform, I am reminded of the biblical wisdom from Ecclesiastes 3:1, which states, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." Fall presents a unique opportunity for reflection and preparation as we transition into the quiet, introspective season of winter.
Creating a Welcoming Farmhouse Porch
One of the most delightful ways to embrace the changes of autumn is by adorning my farmhouse porch with sturdy, weather resistant seasonal elements. Poinsettias, with their rich red and green leaves, serve as a timeless nod to the impending holiday season. Pair these stunning flowers with an array of greenery to create a visual statement that echoes the natural beauty of fall and winter.
Using flower pots filled with vibrant winter flora not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of my porch but acts as a gentle reminder of the cyclical nature of life. As I select my porch winter flowers, I consider incorporating durable options that can endure the cooler temperatures ahead. This provides me an opportunity not only to beautify my home but also to cultivate a space for quiet reflection as we witness the slow pace of nature's descent into winter.
Reflecting on the Year and God's Graces
As we prepare for the winter months, it is an ideal time to slow the pace and reflect upon the graces bestowed upon us throughout the year. In moments of tranquility, we can take stock of our experiences, relationships, and personal growth. The symbolism of the changing seasons is not lost on us; it serves as an invitation to contemplate our connection to the divine and the blessings that have enriched our lives.
We are blessed with happy and health children and grandchildren who are an ever present part of our lives. We relish the opportunity to spend time watching over our grandsons, seeing them grow and explore and learn about the world our Lord has created for them. They are safe to enjoy the season's colors and temperate weather while playing outside and wandering through the landscape and trees, searching for new "treasures."
Soon enough, we'll be working out way through corn mazes and carving a turkey and preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ.
